Income tax returns hit 4 crore, 68% of Dec 31 tally; no July 31 deadline extension

"The pace of filing has picked up, we received three lakh returns during an hour on Thursday," a tax officer told TOI, while insisting that there is no discussion at the moment to extend the July 31 deadline.
